Mr. Peyton giving a lecture in Sweden.
Mr. Peyton's book Whiplash - The Cervical Spine In Medico-Legal Practice is now available in our online bookstore - here is an excerpt from the back of this book: Road traffic accidents have now reached truly epidemic proportions and it is estimated that at least one in every 200 of the population will be involved in a road traffic accident in any one year. Personal injury litigation has seen a concomitant rise, predominantly due to injuries to the spine and in particular to the cervical spine. Expertise as a medical witness in personal injury litigation requires skills which are not taught in medical school and which have to be developed through both training and exposure to good practice.
This book is written for lawyers-solicitors, barristers and judges, to assist them in understanding what they might reasonably expect of those they engage as experts in the field of whiplash injury. It is also written as an aid to consultants and general practitioners providing expert reports and testimony and who need to fully comprehend the duty of the expert witness. Guidance is given to those fields which clinicians do not normally address in any detail such as the mechanism of injury and the importance of showing causation.
The author is a consultant surgeon with a special interest in laparoscopic surgery and trauma and is a specialist in medical education. He is also a graduate of the College of Law in the U. K. He heads a private clinic that provides medico-legal assessments and reports for cases in litigation many of which concern whiplash injuries and has over 20 years of experience of giving expert evidence in Court.
The author is a well-known international speaker in the fields of education and trauma and is recognised authority on the management of ballistic injuries.
